Outside the restaurant
Turns out where were at the right place. Danyang is famous for garlic and this restaurant (Jangdari Sikdang) specialises in Garlic rice. Yum. 20,000Won for Garlic Rice. What? Oh well, we are here now and the waitress assures us it is amazing. We nod.
Next thing our jaws drop as we see numerous side dishes being brought to our table, a true smorgasbord. In the end we counted 24 side dishes, just for the two of us, and the best part was that each and every dish contained garlic. There was pickled garlic, mustard garlic, garlic with raw beef and pears, garlic mandu, garlic wraps, fried garlic and crab, and the list goes on.
The raw beef and pears, sublime!
Garlic, tofu, and kimchi...yum!
Pickeld garlic, garlic mandu and roasted garlic.
Every garlic lovers dream
Pork served with sesame leaves.Yummmm!
The garlic rice...
Our table was littered with dishes from end to end with barely enough room to place our beer glasses. After a quick cheers, we tucked in and it was a mouth-watering, mouth-orgasmic, flavourful experience that allowed us to taste many familiar Korean flavours while also trying new, exciting ones.
It was like painting a picture in your mouth, add a dash of this and a little of that and voila you have an artistic sensation that gets your taste buds screaming for more.
Danyang is an amazingly beautiful place, although difficult to get around it has some awesome things to see like Guinsa, the Ondol Resort, or the rocks that emerge out of the river. But Jangdari Sikdang should be on your list of must sees. The restaurant is decorated with awards, the staff is super friendly, and the food, well, the food is simply mind-blowingly good!
